Desata Analytics, Inc. ("Desata," "we," "us") operates the loan limit calculator at loanlimit.app. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. See our Terms of Use for additional terms governing your use of this tool.

What the calculator collects

The calculator itself collects no student data. No student names, IDs, Social Security numbers, or other personally identifiable student information are entered into, transmitted through, or stored by this tool. All calculations happen in your browser or in a stateless server request that retains nothing after the response is sent.

Information you provide

When you use the print feature, we ask for your name and work email address. Your name and email appear on the printed report alongside the calculation date. We retain this information to understand how many institutions use this tool.

You may also choose to receive email updates about this tool and related regulatory changes. This is optional and does not affect the print feature. If you opt in, we use your email to send periodic updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying or using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

We do not sell your personal information.

Information collected automatically

We use standard web server logs that may record your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. We do not use this information to identify individual users.

Third-party services

The calculator uses the following external services:

• Formspree (formspree.io) to process email submissions from the print feature

These services may collect standard web request information (IP address, browser type) per their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the third-party services listed above only as necessary to operate this tool.

Cookies

The calculator sets two first-party cookies and does not use local storage.

• session holds a random identifier we use to count visits and understand how the tool is used. It lasts until you close your browser.
• consent_session records that you accepted the Terms of Use, and stores the name and email you entered so you do not have to type them again on your next visit. It lasts 30 days, renewing each time you use the calculator.

Both are marked HttpOnly, so scripts running in your browser cannot read them. Neither is used for advertising or shared with anyone. Clearing your browser's cookies removes both, and the calculator will ask for your details again.

Data retention

Calculation inputs and results are not stored. They exist only for the duration of your session. Work email addresses submitted through the print feature are retained by Formspree and by Desata to track tool adoption and, if you opted in, to send product updates. We delete your information within 30 days of receiving a deletion request.

Data security

We protect the information we collect using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of marketing communications

Children's privacy

This tool is designed for financial aid professionals, not students or minors. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via the email address on file (if you have provided one) and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes apply only to information collected after the effective date unless you affirmatively consent to retroactive application.
