The calculator estimates prorated federal loan limits based on proposed or final regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education regarding the schedule of reductions for less-than-full-time students. The specific regulatory basis is identified within the tool itself and may change as regulations are finalized.
The calculator may be based on proposed regulations that have not been finalized. The Department of Education may change the formula, definitions, or requirements in the final rule. Desata will update the tool when the final rule publishes, but calculations performed before that update reflect the regulatory basis in effect at the time of calculation.
This tool is an informational resource for financial aid professionals. It is not legal advice, compliance advice, or a substitute for professional judgment. Desata does not guarantee that calculations produced by this tool will satisfy any particular regulatory, audit, or program review standard.
Financial aid officers are responsible for verifying all calculations against the applicable regulations before making disbursement decisions. The tool flags cases that require manual review but does not guarantee that all edge cases are identified.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Desata's total liability arising out of or related to your use of this tool shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it. In no event shall Desata be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages for incorrect disbursements, audit findings, or regulatory penalties, regardless of the cause of action or theory of liability.

We may update this tool and these terms at any time. Material changes to the terms will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Changes to the calculator's regulatory basis will be noted in the tool itself.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the tool shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
